Two men, aged 17 and 20, have been arrested in Ontario following Canada-wide warrants for their arrest after a home invasion and shooting in Montreal.
Montreal police (SPVM) say the two were arrested on Wednesday in the cities of Ajax and Toronto.
“The 20-year-old suspect, Christopher Ethan Prince, appeared remotely at the Montreal courthouse,” police said. “The 17-year-old suspect appeared remotely before the Youth Division of the Court of Quebec.”
The arrests follow an apparent home invasion in Montreal’s Sud Ouest borough at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 28.
“An individual reportedly arrived at a residence claiming to be delivering a package,” police note. “When the residents opened the door, he allegedly entered the home, followed by three accomplices, two of whom were reportedly armed with firearms.”
The force adds that one of the armed suspects allegedly fired a shot.
“One suspect was reportedly struck in the abdomen, while the resident sustained a minor injury to the arm,” police state. “The four suspects then reportedly fled, leaving behind several pieces of evidence at the scene.”
Canada-wide warrants are still out for two additional suspects in the case, including a 16-year-old.
The two men arrested are expected to be transferred to Montreal in the coming days.
“Searches led to the seizure of various pieces of evidence,” police said. “They face several charges, including breaking and entering, brandishing a firearm and recklessly discharging a firearm.”
The investigation is in collaboration with the Toronto and Durham police forces.
