American wanted on sex crime warrants arrested in Winnipeg: police

A Tennessee man wanted on warrants for sex crimes in the United States was recently arrested in Winnipeg.

A 35-year-old Tennessee man who had outstanding warrants for alleged sex crimes was arrested in Winnipeg last week.

According to Winnipeg police, the arrest happened Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Officers on patrol in the Exchange District say they saw the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado speeding and pulled them over near Higgins Avenue and McArthur Street.

According to police, the driver was identified during the stop and found to have outstanding warrants from the United States for aggravated statutory rape, soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor and aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor. He was taken into custody.

Winnipeg police say the FBI, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Greenbrier Police Department in Tennessee were notified.

The suspect is currently being held by the CBSA until he can be returned to the United States to face the charges.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
