Homicide investigators say a 33-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the fatal stabbing of another man outside a Metro Vancouver pub.
Timothy Vansnick was initially charged with second-degree murder on Feb. 1, 2025, one day after the stabbing death of the 35-year-old victim outside the John B Neighbourhood Pub in Coquitlam.
Mounties were called to the Austin Avenue pub following reports of a fight at around 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2025.
According to the Lower Mainland’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, officers arrived to find bystanders administering first aid to the victim, who died at the scene.
Vansnick was arrested along with another man, who was later released without charges.
“The entering of a guilty plea is a significant step in the court process,” said Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT in a statement Thursday.
Vansnick is scheduled to be sentenced in a Port Coquitlam court in December.
“As we await sentencing, our thoughts are with the victim’s family, friends, and those who were impacted by this tragic death,” Fong said.
