Calf falls out of trailer, reunited with herd

Published:

OPP say the calf fell out of a livestock trailer on highway 10 in Mono after the back door came loose.

A young calf has been returned to its rightful owner after quite the travelling adventure.

Dufferin OPP officers were out on patrol earlier this month on Highway 10 in the Town of Mono, near Orangeville, when they noticed the back door of a livestock trailer become dislodged.

This caused a young Charolais calf to fall out of the moving trailer and roll across the road.

Luckily, the calf made its way to the side of the road out of the way of traffic with just a few minor cuts and scrapes.

Officers, with the help of community members, kept the calf calm and safe while they managed to connect with the driver of the trailer via radio.

The farmer came back to pick up the calf and reunited it with the rest of the travelling herd.
