Costco Canada has published a recall for window shades that could pose a choking hazard.

The recalled item, Bali Springs Cellular Shades, was sold on Costco.ca between Jan. 1, 2025 and April 9 of this year, the company said in a notice published May 25.

“The end caps on the bottom rail may not be glued and can release small parts that present a choking hazard to young children,” the notice reads.

The affected model number, which is on the product label located on the top of the headrail of the shades, is BC23.

The window shades are from the company Springs Window Fashions.

“Members should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Springs Window Fashions if the end caps on the bottom rail are not securely glued,” the notice said.

As of May. 19, there are no reports of injury in Canada.

According to the notice, consumers can return the item to Costco.ca to obtain a full refund.

Additionally, consumers can also obtain a glue kit with instructions, provided by the company, if their product’s end cap detaches.

It is prohibited to redistribute, sell or even give away recalled products under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, the recall adds.

This recall is part of a larger recall posted on Health Canada‘s website that impacts three other models from the same company. The other models are the Cellular Shade, model number SC19,; Graber Cellular Shade, model number GC23; and Signature Series Cellular Shade, model number SSC23.
