A landslide shut down Highway 1 in the British Columbia Interior for hours before crews were able to reopen the key road link.
The provincial Ministry of Transportation’s DriveBC information site says the route reopened at 10:23 a.m. after it was closed between Revelstoke and Golden around 8 p.m. Thursday.
The closure was due to a landslide west of Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk in Mount Revelstoke National Park, just east of Revelstoke.
That section of Highway 1 is among a number of roads affected by wet conditions in the Interior.
DriveBC says water is pooling between Kamloops and Sicamous, Highway 97A north of Vernon and Highway 97 from Lake Country to Kamloops.
The River Forecast centre has issued flood watches and high streamflow advisories covering a large portion of central and southeastern B.C., as forecasts warn of heavy rain and warming temperatures accelerating snowmelt.
