A worker in an Ottawa homeless shelter says he’s “filled with excitement” after winning the Instant Cash for Life grand prize.

Edward R. of Ottawa recently picked the last four Instant Cash for Life tickets at the Brown’s Your Independent Grocer in Stittsville.

“When I uncovered three LIFE symbols in the same game, I was so excited,” Edward told OLG while picking up his prize at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

“It didn’t feel real.”

The grand prize in the Instant Cash for Life lottery is $1,000 a week for life. Edward opted for the lump sum prize of $675,000.

Edward said his wife didn’t believe him at first when he told her about the Cash for Life win.

“We were filled with excitement,” he said. “All I can say is, ‘Wow.’ It feels incredible to win big!”

Edward says he and his wife are hoping to purchase a new home and invest for the future.

The Instant Cash for Life is available for $4 a play. The odds of winning any prize in the game is one in 3.68.
