Ontario Provincial police say a 34-year-old man died and a child was airlifted to the hospital following a three-vehicle collision on Highway 15 near Smiths Falls on Friday.
According to a statement from police, officers responded to a collision involving two cars and an ambulance on the highway between County Road 1 and County Road 5 in Lombardy around 5 p.m.
The 34-year-old man was driving one the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene. The child was a passenger in the 34-year-old man’s vehicle and was transported to the hospital by an Ornge air ambulance.
The ambulance had no patients on board, but the driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the third vehicle was its lone occupant and was taken to the hospital to treat minor injuries.
The highway was closed for several hours following the collision, but it has since reopened.
