A hiker fell from a cliff at the Nottawasaga Lookout Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the emergency shortly before 3 p.m.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say he he had fallen a ‘significant distance’ from the cliff edge.

Simcoe County Emergency Services were called to the lookout for assistance.

“Crews are still on scene assisting,” said Clearview Fire Chief Scott Davison shortly after 5 p.m.

The OPP is continuing to investigate and ruled out foul play.

“At this time, there is no evidence to suggest foul play,” said OPP Sgt. Joe Brisebois in a news release. “The OPP reminds members of the public to use caution when exploring outdoor areas with cliffs, steep terrain, and uneven footing. Staying on marked trails and maintaining a safe distance from edges can help prevent serious injury.”
