Saskatchewan RCMP are currently responding to an active shooter situation at a health clinic in the northern community of Pelican Narrows.
In an alert issued Monday afternoon, RCMP instructed residents in the area to find a safe location immediately, lock their doors, call 911 in case of emergencies, and not to share police locations.
Residents were also ordered not to approach the shooter. Those outside the community were asked to stay away from the Pelican Narrows area.
It’s unclear if there are any casualties.

4:31 p.m.
In a brief update, RCMP said its investigation remains ongoing and the emergency alert remains active.
The service also noted it will not be holding a media availability Monday evening, given the ongoing investigation.
“We do not have further information to provide at this time,” the update read.
3:18 p.m.
In an update issued at 3:18 p.m., RCMP reported the suspect is a man, wearing all black clothing with a face covering.
According to police, he is travelling on foot in an unknown direction.
The update also expanded the number of affected communities from four to more than 20.
The communities named in the alert include Air Ronge, Brabant Lake, Creighton, Cumberland House, Cumberland Cree House 20, Denare Beach, Division No. 18, unorganized, Flin Flon, Four Portages 157C, Grandmother’s Bay 219, Kimosom Pwatinahk 203 (Deschambault Lake), La Ronge, Lac La Ronge 156, Missinipe, Pelican Narrows, Pelican Narrows 184B, Potato River 156A, Sandy Bay, Southend 200, Stanley 157, Sturgeon Weir 184F, Sucker River 156C (Nemebien River 156C).
2:29 p.m.
The original civil emergency alert was issued at 2:29 p.m. Monday. The brief message outlined the alert was in effect for Pelican Narrows, Pelican Narrows 184B, Division No. 18 Unorganized and Kimosom Pwatinahk 203 (Deschambault Lake).
The alert instructed residents in the area to find a safe location immediately, lock their doors and stay away from the Pelican Narrows area if possible.
Residents were also ordered not to approach the shooter, to call 911 in case of emergencies and not to share police locations.
Last week, Pelican Narrows issued a notice saying a security checkpoint had been reestablished at the community’s entrance due to concerns of trespassing, trafficking, and related violence.
The notice stated every person entering the community would be asked to show valid identification.
Pelican Narrows is located 370 kilometres northeast of Prince Albert.
