Woman allegedly involved in Hwy. 401, Ingersoll crashes in custody, shoeless suspect outstanding

One suspect is in custody and a second remains outstanding following two weekend crashes in Oxford County.

According to a news release, on Sunday, at around 8:15 a.m., Oxford OPP officers responded to reports of a collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Foldens Line in Ingersoll.

Police say one of the vehicles fled the scene of the crash where it then crashed into a home on Charles Street West.

Police say a second occupant from the vehicle, a 23-year-old woman from North York, attempted to flee the second crash scene on foot, but was later arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited/restricted weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

The accused is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Oxford OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the other occupant of the vehicle. Residents, businesses and drivers in the area at that time of the crashes are asked to check their security systems, doorbell cameras and dashcams for possible footage of the suspect.

The individual is described as: a black male, slim build in their late 20s to early 30s wearing a t-shirt and dark jogging suit. They may not be wearing shoes.
