Calgary’s Tool Shed Brewing becomes official beer provider for WestJet

Calgary-based Tool Shed Brewery will offer three beers on WestJet flights starting next month.

WestJet and Tool Shed Brewing have announced plans to take their partnership to new heights.

The Calgary-based airline and Calgary brewery had already worked together on the Elevation Lounge at YYC Calgary International Airport, and now the airline has announced Tool Shed will be its exclusive beer provider onboard its aircraft.

“Beginning July 15, guests on board WestJet flights with in-flight buy-on-board service will have the option to enjoy one of three — or maybe all three — of Tool Shed’s fantastic brews that we carry,” said Steve McClelland, WestJet’s vice-president of Partnership and Loyalty, at a Tuesday news conference.

“The beers that we’ve chosen together with Tool Shed really give guests something to look forward to on their next flight.”

The beers available include:

  • Local Legend, a 3.5 per cent ABV light lager;
  • People Skills, a 5.2 per cent ABV blond ale; and
  • Golden Hour, a 5.5 per cent ABV tropical hazy pale ale.

“We really applaud WestJet for taking a chance on supporting local, supporting craft (beer), supporting another western Canadian entrepreneurial story,” said Graham Sherman, founder and president of Tool Shed Brewing.

McClelland says the announcement is about more than just beer.

“Together, WestJet and Tool Shed Brewing are proving that small- and medium-sized businesses can leverage each others’ strength to create a meaningful and mutually beneficial partnership.”
