A driver and a passenger have been arrested after they came to help another vehicle during a traffic stop in eastern Prince Edward Island Saturday night.
The RCMP initially stopped a vehicle for allegedly speeding on Route 2 in Rollo Bay West around 9 p.m.
Police say they determined the driver did not have a valid licence.
Another vehicle then arrived to “assist” the driver.
“Police interactions with this second vehicle resulted in that driver being arrested for impaired driving, and a passenger arrested for possession of illegal drugs,” reads an RCMP news release.
Police say they seized more than 52 grams of cocaine, a scale, measuring devices and other drug paraphernalia from the second vehicle.
A 30-year-old Kings County man has been charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking. He will appear in court at a later date.
The RCMP says the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
