4.4 magnitude earthquake hits eastern Quebec

A 4.4 magnitude earthquake hit near Mont-Joli, Que., in the St. Lawrence River Thursday morning.

The earthquake occurred at approximately 10:21 a.m. and was lightly felt in Baie Comeau, Saguenay and Riviere-du-Loup.

Earthquakes Canada said there was no reported damage.

Earthquakes in this area are common. Large earthquakes with a magnitude of five to seven have also been recorded in this area.
