Alberta Emergency Alert has issued an overland flow advisory to three regions outside Edmonton due to heavy rain in the last 24 hours.
The advisories for Lac Ste. Anne County, Beaver County and Stony Plain were issued within 20 minutes just before 7 p.m. Sunday.
The areas have all received reports of sewer backups that are impacting people’s homes and businesses.
A 60 per cent axle weight road ban is in place for 48 hours minimum, Lac Ste. Anne County said on social media. Any travel on county roads isn’t recommended.
People are asked to reduce any non-essential water use, limit toilet flushing and avoid washing dishes to help.
Beaver County is located over an hour outside southeast of Edmonton. Lac Ste. Anne County is located an hour northwest of Edmonton.
St. Albert and Beaumont are both under a water supply advisory, with AEA issuing alerts early Sunday afternoon.
