A 20-year-old Canadian man has been identified as one of three people who died in a weekend plane crash in the U.S.
Maryland State Police released the identities of the victims on Monday, including Canadian passenger Elad Naidik, 19-year-old passenger David Rabinovich and the plane’s pilot, 26-year-old Yoav Bomrind. The crash occurred in Prince George’s County.
According to Maryland police, a preliminary investigation into the crash indicated that at approximately 11:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, a single-engine Piper Cherokee was “en route from Ocean City, New Jersey to the Montgomery County Air Park, when for reasons unknown at this time, the plane crashed into a wooded area in Bowie.”
The police service states that the aircraft was found on Sunday morning at approximately 3:45 a.m. “in a wooded area in close proximity to a residential area off of Scarlett Oak Court in Bowie.”
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board is leading the ongoing investigation.
