An Ontario man is facing multiple charges following a year-long human trafficking investigation in British Columbia.

Police say 29-year-old Jahail Green was arrested last month in Vaughan, Ont., in connection with offences that allegedly occurred in B.C.’s Lower Mainland.

The investigation, led by the B.C. RCMP’s Counter Human Trafficking Unit, began in May 2025 and later expanded to involve several police agencies in Ontario.

Last month, the B.C. Prosecution Service approved six charges against Green, including trafficking in persons, procuring a person to provide sexual services, receiving a material benefit from trafficking, receiving a material benefit from sexual services, advertising sexual services, and assault, police said.

The alleged offences are said to have occurred between January 2025 and January 2026.

“As this investigation has progressed, investigators have not stopped pursuing all investigative leads and avenues,” B.C. RCMP Insp. Lyndsay O’Ruairc said in a statement Thursday.

“This is an important reminder that offenders cannot hide in another province and expect to avoid detection.”

Following his arrest, Green was released from police custody with numerous conditions, the RCMP said.

O’Ruairc said supporting victims remains a key priority for investigators in the case, adding the trafficking unit works with partner organizations to help victims access immediate and long-term safety supports, financial assistance and guidance on immigration-related issues.
