Police: death of north Barrie couple deemed murder and suicide

Police have revealed disturbing details about what they say happened to a couple found dead in north Barrie on Saturday.

The bodies of a 45-year-old man and 44-year-old woman were found in their home in the area of St. Vincent Street and Osprey Ridge Road.

Police say their deaths are the result of intimate partner violence.

As of Thursday, the Barrie Police Major Crime unit has deemed the death of the woman a homicide.

Police say the man’s death is believed to be the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The firearm involved in the incident was also recovered on the scene, police say.

Authorities say there are no outstanding suspects and no charges are expected.

The names of the deceased will not be released.
