Formula One star Lewis Hamilton makes scenic pit stop at Emerald Lake

Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton made a surprise visit to Emerald Lake Lodge with his mother following the Canadian Grand Prix.

If you were near Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park near Field, B.C., just west of Lake Louise and the Alberta boundary, the week after the Canadian Grand Prix, you might have spotted a familiar face on the water.

Seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton shared photos on Instagram showing himself paddling a canoe on the iconic lake, accompanied by his mother.

Staff with Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts confirmed the images were taken at Emerald Lake, where Hamilton rented a canoe during his visit on May 26.

In the photos, Hamilton is also seen wearing a Montreal Canadiens cap — a nod that has caught fans’ attention online after the race weekend in Montreal.

Hamilton finished second at the Canadian Grand Prix, behind teenage phenom Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who drives for Mercedes.

Resort staff said the British driver’s visit included a brief detour after experiencing car trouble. During the stop, he asked for assistance and picked up snacks from a lakeside eatery.

The social media post has since generated buzz, with fans highlighting the unexpected Alberta stop and his choice of headwear.
