Three people are facing charges after a dog was shot and killed in North Battleford, Sask.
RCMP say it happened Friday, June 26, on 8th Avenue North where a man was walking the dog.
Mounties say the man was approached by a truck with multiple people inside who uttered threats and fired a gun, injuring the dog.
The truck promptly fled from the area and the dog was declared dead at the scene.
The dog’s owner didn’t report any injuries to police.
Battlefords RCMP was able to find the suspect’s truck shortly after parked outside a home on 110th Street.
According to RCMP, three men exited the home and were arrested without incident. Mounties say a woman fled from the home on foot but was also arrested.
Home searched, guns seized: police
RCMP say they searched the home in question and seized two guns they found inside.
As a result, 37-year-old Dennis Kennedy from North Battleford faces 11 charges, including one count of injuring or endangering other animals, one count of careless use of a firearm and one count of possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number.
Also charged was 53-year-old Allan Desmeules from North Battleford. He faces five charges, including one count of unsafe storage of firearms, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm and one count of knowingly possessing an unauthorized firearm.
Lastly, 39-year-old Tashina Whitstone from Red Pheasant Cree Nation was charged with one count of uttering threats to animals and one count of resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
The other person arrested was released from custody without charges.
Dennis Kennedy made his first appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday, June 29.
Whitstone and Desmeules are scheduled to appear on Aug. 17.
