A group of co-workers in Metro Vancouver will be splitting a $500,000 prize after winning the Extra on a Lotto 6/49 draw.
Speaking to the B.C. Lottery Corporation, Maria S. says she found out about the group’s win and got to share the news with her 13 colleagues.
“I was at work when I found out we won,” Maria said in a news release issued Wednesday. “I was so happy, I hugged a coworker!”
She said the group went out to eat together to celebrate their win. Each colleague will be taking home about $35,700.
“Everyone was excited,” Maria said.
The BCLC recommends people playing the lottery as a group to appoint a captain to co-ordinate collecting money, buying the tickets and checking for winnings, as well as to sign its group prize agreement form.
The odds of winning the $500,000 top Extra prize on a Lotto 6/49 ticket are about one in 3.76 million.
