When 10-year-old Elayce Clayton walked through the doors of the Halifax Stanfield International Airport after winning a gold medal in an international dance competition, she got a surprise she never expected.
The young dancer’s community of North Preston came in droves to welcome Clayton home after she secured the top spot in the World Dance Championships in Dublin, Ireland.
Members of the community hired a transit bus to bring residents to the airport from North Preston, with many community members carrying signs and flowers for the young star.
“It feels good seeing all my family and friends, and yeah, thank you all for coming,” Clayton told CTV News on Wednesday.
Clayton says she hopes to become a professional dancer in Los Angeles in the future.
