Montreal-based Goodfood is recalling two meatball meal kits due to undeclared egg and sesame seeds, both of which are food allergens.
The recall was issued July 11 and published online by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) on Monday. The meal kits were distributed both in Quebec and online, according to the recall.
“Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products,” the advisory said.
The following are the affected products:
- Middle Eastern-style pork meatballs with orzo and roasted vegetables (405 g)
- Teriyaki beef meatballs with carrots, edamame and rice (425 g)
Both of the recalled items have best before dates of July 12, 2026.
The CFIA flagged the recall as Class 2, indicating there’s “a moderate risk that consuming the food may lead to short-term or non-life threatening health problems.”
According to Goodfood‘s website, the online grocery and meal kits subscription service delivers “fresh” and “sustainable” meals nationwide by partnering with farms and suppliers to help reduce food waste and retail overhead.
The CFIA previously suspended Goodfood’s licence last December, saying that the company failed to comply with certain food safety requirements under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. It was reinstated in January.
