Man arrested after driving motorhome onto active runway at B.C. airport

A man crashed a motorhome through a fence and drove onto an active runway at B.C.’s Abbotsford Airport Saturday, according to authorities.

Officers were called to the scene around 4:30 p.m., the Abbotsford Police Department said in a statement.

“Airport staff immediately responded, while air traffic control implemented measures to safely reroute general aviation aircraft operating at the airport,” police said

“Airport operations were briefly disrupted as a result of the incident but have since returned to normal operations. No injuries have been reported as a result of this incident.”

A 53-year-old man was arrested, and the incident remains under investigation. Impairment has, however, been ruled out as a cause, the statement from police added.
