A child sitting in a car stopped for speeding on Highway 401 in eastern Ontario was using a pillow as a booster seat, according to police.
Ontario Provincial Police say an officer observed a driver going 153 km/h on Highway 401 in South Dundas on Monday.
The speed limit on Highway 401 in the area is 100 km/h.
“Officers also observed a young child in the rear seat using a pillow as a booster seat rather than an approved child restraint system,” the OPP said on X.
Police say the driver is facing a charge of stunt driving, which includes a 14-day vehicle impoundment and the driver’s licence is suspended for 30 days.
The driver will appear in court in Cornwall at a later date.
“Speeding and improper child restraints significantly increase the risk of serious injury in a collision,” the OPP said.
“Every passenger deserves a safe ride.”
