A Manitoba woman is putting a fresh spin on selling flowers this summer.
Magwyer Herring of Howden, Man., has been offering her homegrown selection of florals at farmers markets this summer under the name River’s Garden Co.
What makes her stall unique — she is selling flowers out of a 1958 Chevrolet Apache truck.

“This truck has been my husband’s since he was a little boy, and he has been wanting to restore it forever but has never had the time to do it,” Herring said. “So, it was the perfect time for him to restore it, and he turned it into my flower truck.”
Herring notes since she started bringing the truck to markets, which is fully drivable, she has been receiving lots of attention.

“People absolutely love it,” she said, speaking to CTV News during a farmers’ market on Graham Avenue on Thursday.
“I want to say the truck itself is what draws the people in, and then they realize there are flowers on it. I wish it was the other way around, but because of the truck, I wouldn’t be as busy as I am right now.”
Herring said she has been moved by the response from the community.
“More and more markets are reaching out to me, which is amazing,” she said.
“And originally, I only had a few markets booked for the summer, and now all of a sudden, I have three to four every week, and it’s just been crazy.”
