Two concertgoers were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries during the Guns N’ Roses performance at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton on Wednesday.
Emergency Health Services (EHS) Alberta told CTV News paramedics arrived at around 9:20 p.m. for the first person, who was in an unstable and potentially life-threatening condition. They were taken and treated en route to hospital.
Paramedics responded again at 10 p.m. for a person in critical life-threatening condition. EHS said paramedics provided advanced life support on the way to hospital.
Alycia Bond, a 30-year-old woman, said she is one of the people taken to hospital. She said she fell, but can’t remember how.
“I can’t remember any of it,” Bond told CTV News Edmonton on Friday. “I remember the opening band going on, and that’s about it.”
Bond said she had been moved from the intensive care unit to the trauma unit. She said she is sore, but doing OK - despite significant injuries.
“I do have a fracture in my shoulder, somewhere along the scapula, and a fracture in my neck, somewhere along the back, and then I have these marks on my face,” Bond said. “They’ve been very, very careful watching that my brain isn’t also a victim.”
EHS reported taking one other person to hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition.
The Edmonton Police Service said there were no reported criminal incidents involving injury. A police representative called it an “an average concert event with a few ejections for intoxication or fighting.”
