Newfoundland and Labrador’s police oversight body says it has charged a St. John’s police officer with two counts of harassment.
The Serious Incident Response Team says the charges stem from an investigation into a complaint against the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officer.
The watchdog says the constable is facing a count of criminal harassment and a count of harassing communications.
The officer is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
The watchdog says it would provide no further comment since the matter is proceeding in court.
The watchdog has a mandate to investigate serious incidents involving injury, death, sexual offence, domestic violence or any matter of significant public interest arising from the actions of a police officer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
