An Elmo teething toy poses a potential choking hazard, according to a Canadian recall notice.
The black pupil of Elmo’s eye on the Skip Hop Baby Sesame Street Elmo Silicone Teether can separate if the toy is frozen, the notice says. It says “consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product.”
The teether is a Skip Hop Inc. product, sold by Carter’s Osh Kosh in Canada, and was recalled on Wednesday.
Three incidents have been reported in Canada, with another in the U.S. the notice says, adding that no injuries have been alerted as of Thursday.
Customers can contact Skip Hop Inc. for a gift card refund.
Skip Hop Inc. says 3,273 units were sold in Canada, and 17,462 in the U.S. between January 2025 and March 2026. The toys were manufactured in China.
The notice reminds readers Canadians that it is illegal to redistribute, sell, or give away recall products. The recall notice has been issued jointly between Skip Hop Inc., Health Canada and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
