A plea deal proposal appears to be coming for a Calgary man accused of threatening Prime Minister Mark Carney’s life.
Jamie Da Costa, 31, was arrested by the RCMP and charged with “uttering a threat to Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney to cause death.”
The alleged threats against Carney and members of the prime minister’s family are said to have occurred in a YouTube video.

Da Costa also faces a number of other charges not related to the alleged incident involving Carney.
Those matters involve charges of extortion, criminal harassment, uttering threats to cause death, mischief (damage over $5,000) and being disguised with intent.
Friday in court, it was stated before Justice Mark Tyndale that all matters will be dealt with by one special prosecutor—William Tran.
Defence lawyer Adriano Adriano Iovinelli asked that the matters be adjourned to Sept. 25.
“We’re having discussions about a possible early case resolution,” he said.
“I will see my client this weekend, and (special prosecution) has indicated he should have a proposal for me.”
Tran, who was also in court on Friday, confirmed.
The adjournment was granted.
Meantime, Da Costa remains in custody at the Calgary Remand Centre.
A video appearing to encourage Canadians to travel to Ottawa and commit an act of violence against Canada’s leader and members of his family is still posted on a YouTube channel registered to a Jamie Da Costa.
The video is dated July 25.
Court documents say the alleged incident occurred between July 25 and 26.
Mounties said earlier this week they became involved on July 28.
