A children’s book has been recalled in Canada due to a potential choking hazard.
The consumer product recall, published Tuesday by Health Canada, is for the board book “I Spy a Fly!” by Make Believe Ideas, part of their “Groovy Baby.”
“The book has a green frog with orange netting on the front cover,” the notice says. “The final page shows an image of a purple fly with googly eyes and four iridescent plastic wings.”
Health Canada says the wings may detach from the book when pulled and pose a choking hazard.
The book can be identified by ISBN: 9781836422594 marked on the back cover. The product was manufactured in China and 1,247 affected units were sold in Canada between March 2025 and June 2026.
As of Sept. 9, the company had received no reports of incidents or injuries involving the product in Canada.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recall product, pull the wings off the last page of the book, cut each wing into four pieces, and take a photograph of the 16 pieces on or next to the last page of the book before disposing of the pieces in a trash bin that is inaccessible to children,” the recall said.
In order to get a refund, consumer should take a photograph of the 16 pieces on or next to the last page of the book and submit them to Make Believe Ideas.
