Ontario Provincial Police say a 20-year-old man died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday involving a moose on Highway 17 in Sudbury.
“At approximately 9:15 p.m., police responded to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a moose on Highway 17, west of the Highway 144 junction,” police said in a news release Thursday.
“The 20-year-old driver from Sudbury was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
Police said the eastbound lanes of Highway 17 were closed for eight hours while police attended the scene.
The highway has since reopened.
