Orillia OPP have laid charges after an investigation of theft at five different hospitals around the region and the GTA and are now calling out to the public in case of more victims.
According to the OPP, thefts were reported at;
- Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital between April 2025 - March 2026
- Headwaters Health Care Centre between August 2026 - September 2026 in Orangeville.
- Trillium Health Partners between August 2025 - July 2026 at Mississauga Hospital
- St. Joseph’s Health Centre between July 2024 - January 2025 in Toronto.
- and West Park Health Care Centre between February 2024 - April 2024 in Toronto.
The investigation began after a series of complaints regarding theft and fraud from patients and staff within the hospitals.
Multiple search warrants were completed with a large amount of items being recovered.
As a result of the investigation a 34-year-old woman from Burlington faces multiple charges including 34 counts of fraud under $5000, 13 counts of theft under $5000, seven counts of disobeying a court order, four counts of Criminal Breach of Trust, two counts of fraud over $5000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, theft over $5000 and personation with intent.
OPP are asking anyone who attended the hospitals during those time periods and might have experienced unauthorized transactions to contact them.
