A patient is currently being evaluated at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) for a potential case of Ebola, according to the hospital.

“The standard protocols are in place, so ambulances are being temporarily rerouted to allow us to safely transfer the patient from the ambulance to the dedicated isolation room in the emergency department,” a media spokesperson told CTV News in an email.

CTV News has asked the CHUM for more information about the suspected case.

Canada extended its travel ban last month related to the Ebola outbreak that prevents people from Uganda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) from entering the country.

The ban, which was put in place in May, was set to expire on Sept. 28, but it was extended by another 60 days to Nov. 27.

Foreign nationals who are not from those three countries but entered the DRC in the last 21 days are not allowed to board a flight to Canada or travel through the country. Meanwhile, those coming from the other two listed countries must quarantine for 21 days.

The Ebola outbreak remains out of control in the DRC as the number of confirmed cases of the Ebola virus surpassed 8,000 as workers try to contain the deadly disease.
