Ottawa police say a former Uber Eats delivery driver is facing charges for an alleged pair of incidents involving a young girl following a CTV News report last August.

A Kanata mother said her 12-year-old daughter ordered Uber Eats during a sleepover with a friend after midnight on Aug. 3.

She says her daughter became suspicious of the interaction she had with the delivery driver when he asked for her phone number. Someone returned an hour later and left a brown paper bag with candy and a note that said, “from your secret admirer.”

After the family set up security cameras, another package showed up two weeks later addressed to her daughter, a $20 bill and a similar note inside.

The mother alleged the camera footage showed the man had driven past the house multiple times.

Uber Eats called the alleged behaviour “unacceptable” and said it had removed the man from the platform.

On Monday, Ottawa police said Adam Daniels, 45, of Ottawa is facing charges of criminal harassment, mischief and prowling by night.

The mother confirmed to CTV News the suspect is the same one involved in the incidents. Police say an investigation is ongoing.
