B.C. RCMP say three horses were killed and one was injured in a crash east of Revelstoke on Tuesday.
The single-vehicle collision happened on Highway 1, about 40 kilometres east of the city, at 8:45 a.m.
Mounties say the driver, a 73-year-old woman from Langdon, Alta., was towing a trailer with four horses when she lost control and collided with a rock wall.
“The driver did not appear to have any serious injuries, but three of the four horses died, and the fourth horse required medical attention,” RCMP said in a statement to CTV News.
RCMP gave the driver a ticket for failing to keep on the right-hand side of the road, which comes with a $109 fine.
“It’s an offence that is written when a driver fails to maintain their lane position and drives off the road (in this case, off road to the right),” RCMP said.
Revelstoke is located about 415 kilometres west of Calgary and 640 kilometres east of Vancouver.
