A Honda plant in this small Ontario town is marking a major milestone

Published:

Honda of Canada Manufacturing announced the production of its 5th million vehicle at Plant 2 in Alliston, Ont.

Honda of Canada Manufacturing (HCM) says a bit of celebration is in order, as the company marks a major milestone at its second Alliston, Ont., plant.

According to a social media post from HCM on Thursday, Plant 2 celebrated the production of its fifth million vehicle.

Plant 2, otherwise known as Line 2, opened its doors in 1998, originally making the Honda Odyssey minivan.

As the name suggests, the plant was Honda’s second in Alliston, with Plant 1 opening in 1986.

“Congratulations to HCM’s Line 2 on reaching an incredible milestone: 5 million vehicles,” the post read.

In a statement to CTV News, Honda Canada says the Alliston plants have produced more than 11 million total vehicles.

With the post came photos of employees smiling as they posed with the vehicle.

“Here’s to the team behind the achievement and to many more milestones ahead,” the post said.

Honda Canada tells CTV News the vehicle is a Honda CR-V SUV.

Currently, Line 2 exclusively produces the CR-V, in both gasoline and hybrid versions.

The car manufacturer says Alliston’s Plant 2 is the leading producer of the CR-V in the world.
