Impaired driving charges are pending against a 23-year-old man after a car plowed into a house in Markham on Friday morning.

The car's driver and the home's occupants escaped serious injury when the vehicle demolished the front of a two-vehicle garage on Raymerville Drive, near Markham Road and Bullock Drive, shortly before 4 a.m.

Bricks and other debris were scattered all over the ground, as the grey Cadillac came to a stop partially inside the double garage.

The car's driver was taken to hospital as a precaution. He was later released into the custody of York Regional Police.

No one inside the house was injured.
