Crews remain at the scene of a residential fire that spread to a second home in Brampton Monday afternoon.

The blaze broke out at a house on Coachwhip Road near Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive at around 5 p.m. and then spread to an adjoining home.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Chief Brian Maltby told CP24 that an explosion may have taken place in the first home.

No injuries have been reported.

"It is a little too early to tell exactly what happened, but it looks like the garage door has been blown out and that is usually an indication of some sort of explosion," he said.

At the height of the fire, a total of eight trucks and dozens of firefighters were at the scene.
