Peel police say they are now investigating the death of a 22-year-old Brampton woman as a homicide.

Marcieline Newland was found without vital signs inside a home on Crystal Glen Crescent near Williams Parkway and Chinguacousy Road last Friday afternoon.

Her death was initially deemed suspicious, however, on Friday Peel police confirmed that the death has now been classified as a homicide.

“The investigation is now lead (sic) by the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau who have been involved from the outset,” a Peel police press release states. “They would like to reassure the public there is no indication of any further threat to public safety as this investigation continues.”

Peel police did not comment on what led them to classify the death as a homicide.
