An elderly woman is in hospital in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle at a gas station in Mississauga Wednesday afternoon.

It happened in the Erin Mills Parkway and Fowler Drive area shortly before 4:30 p.m.

According to police, it appears as if the woman was struck as she tried to put air into the tires of the vehicle she and another man were travelling in.

The vehicle, police said, was being driven by a man thought to be her husband.

The 76-year-old woman was transported to a local hospital. She has since been airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto.

“Her condition is listed as serious,” Peel police Const. Mark Fischer told CP24 at the scene Wednesday night.

The driver is currently cooperating with police, Fischer said.

“I’m sure he is traumatized by what has happened.”
