Catherine O’Hara’s friends and co-stars are paying tribute to the iconic Canadian actor, after learning of her passing on Friday.
Macaulay Culkin, who starred in Home Alone alongside O’Hara, one of her most famous roles, posted a composite of the two from the film, along with a more recent shot.
“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later,” he wrote.
Dan Levy, who played O’Hara’s son on Schitt’s Creek, posted a tribute on Instagram, calling her “extended family”.
“What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years.Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family,” he wrote. “It’s hard to imagine a world without her in it. I will cherish every funny memory I was fortunate enough to make with her.”
Pedro Pascal shared a photo of him giving O’Hara a side hug, with a caption that praised her as “genius”.
“There is less light in my world, this lucky world that had you, will keep you, always,” it read.
The two worked together on the TV series The Last of Us.
Prime Minister Mark Carney posted a tribute to O’Hara on his X account, calling her a “legend.”

Former prime minister Justin Trudeau also took to X to honour O’Hara, and shared a photo of himself with the actor.

Seth Rogan, who worked with O’Hara on his show The Studio, took to Instragram to share a tribute. He called her “the funniest person I’d ever had the pleasure of watching on screen.”
Justin Theroux, who co-starred in the 2024 version of Beetlejuice, posted a photo of a chair from set with her name on it, along with the caption “Oh Catherine.”
Mary Gross, a Second City alumni who appeared in the film A Mighty Wind with O’Hara shared her feelings on her former co-star with CTV News in a phone interview.
“This is difficult for me to comprehend and it hasn’t sunk in yet. This is a terrible loss for friends and family as well as a terrible loss for the Second City and comedy community,“ she said.
”Given the circumstances we’re living in, comedy is more important than ever in bringing people together. Catherine helped us see that light during dark times.”
TV and radio host Andy Cohen posted a throwback photo of O’Hara from her SCTV days.
“Fell in love at first sight on SCTV and it only got stronger. Rest In Peace, Angel Catherine O’Hara,” he captioned the post.
A representative for Mike Myers shared a statement with CTV News from the Canadian comedian and actor on O’Hara’s passing.
“It is a very sad day for Comedy and for Canada. She was one of the greatest comedy artists in history, an inspiration for millions and above all a very elegant lady. Sending much love and condolences to her family.”
Eric Stonestreet, who starred in Modern Family, shared a photo of O’Hara from the show and called it “one of the highlight days” on set.
The producers and cast of The Studio, which featured O’Hara, shared a statement.
“We are at a loss for words at the passing of our friend Catherine O’Hara. She was a hero to all of us, and we pinched ourselves every day that we got to work with her on The Studio. She was somehow classy, warm, and hilarious all at the same time. We’re unbelievably saddened she is gone and send our deepest sympathy to Bo and all her family.”
