What’s next for breakout star Hudson Williams after Heated Rivalry? After the hit hockey romance dropped, there came appearances at the Golden Globes, on Saturday Night Live, and now the Academy Awards.
While on the Oscars red carpet Sunday, the B.C. actor told fans what they can expect soon, as well as his thoughts on what could happen further down the road.
Etalk anchor Tyrone Edwards asked Williams if he saw an Oscar nomination in the future.
“I won’t say no,” he said, adding that he doesn’t think “any of these greats” act solely in pursuit of winning awards.
“But I don’t think anyone can lie, it’s nice cherry on the top,” Williams said of the golden statuette.
As for his next project, Williams shared that audiences will have a much different reaction to his latest character than for the awkward, loveable hockey player Shane Hollander.
“They’re saying that they’re gonna hate you. So we’re talking about like, hate, hate?” Edwards asked.
“Vehemently hate. Like, he’s an awful, awful dude,” Williams said of his upcoming role.
Williams is currently filming another Crave original series Yaga, an adaptation of a Slavic myth reimagined as a mystery thriller set in a small coastal town, based on a play by writer and showrunner Kat Sandler.
He will play Henry Park, the young heir to a powerful fishery whose disappearance is under investigation, according to a Bell Media news release. The show also features Carrie-Anne Moss, best known for, The Matrix, Noah Reid from Schitt’s Creek, Clark Backo of Letterkenny.
“It’s so cool. The fact they let Kat Sandler do this show is wild to me,” Williams said. “I was like, ‘They’re not censoring this?’ and (Sandler) was like, ‘No, they’re letting me make it just like this.’”
He said there’s “a lot of secrets” he can’t share about the upcoming show, which doesn’t have a release date yet.
CTV News, CP24 and Crave are divisions of Bell Media, which is part of BCE Inc.
