Jon Hamm talks to Etalk about becoming a viral meme during his time filming a series in Winnipeg.

If you spent any time on social media in the last few months, chances are you saw a now-viral clip of actor Jon Hamm dancing in ecstasy to techno music in a dimly lit club.

The clip, taken from an episode of the Apple TV+ series “Your Friends & Neighbours,” struck a proverbial chord with Instagram and TikTok users, alike.

It became the perfect meme-able byte folks used to express their own personal bliss, be it at shearing wrapping paper with scissors just so or getting the perfect parking spot.

Turns out, Hamm was far from the club when the clip began to trend on newsfeeds across the globe.

In fact, he was filming an upcoming television series in Winnipeg, Man.

“Everybody was like, ‘Did you see it? Did you see it?’” he recalled in an interview with CTV’s “Etalk.”

“That kind of stuff, you can’t manufacture it. It just has to happen.”

Hamm spent months in Winnipeg filming “American Hostage,” finding time in between takes to make appearances at Winnipeg Jets games, restaurants, a small movie theatre in Stonewall, and WAG-Qaumajuq.

No word yet on when “American Hostage” will premiere, while Season 2 of “Your Friends & Neighbours” will air April 3.

As for Hamm, he is handling viral meme fame.

“It feels pretty great,” he said.
