The fourth season of MGM’s hit show “From” is set to release on Sunday.
The sci-fi mystery series follows a group of people trapped in an impossible situation — a town they can drive in but never leave. The unwilling residents search for ways to escape while also surviving the threats coming from the forest at night.
Acclaimed actor Harold Perrineau plays the role of one of these residents, Sheriff Boyd Stevens, who got lost on a family road trip and wound up in the purgatory town.

“I don’t know, I keep getting stuck in places that I can’t get out of. I get stuck in islands, prisons, the matrix, it just seems to be the thing that happens to me,” he says about his previous roles in shows like “Lost.”
“I think I just like the way people figure out how to survive, you know what I mean? And I just always think that’s interesting and, I don’t always do it in my life but, like, the choices you make about living are often dictated by your circumstances,” he adds.
While the show is set in small-town America, it’s filmed in Beaver Bank, N.S.
“I like it a lot. The only thing that’s a bummer about Nova Scotia is my family isn’t here,” says Perrineau.
“But I really do love it, I have such a good time here. Our crew is amazing, like our sets are amazing, I couldn’t be happier.”
The tension and mysterious twists in the show have fans gathering clues and speculating online.
“After I did ‘Lost,’ I dedicated myself to not reading any theories. Still, there are theories and the show is over,” Perrineau says.
‘The meanest season I’ve seen’
Last season, Perrineau’s character was pushed to a breaking point that ended on a massive cliffhanger.
“A lot happened last year, and they were all trying to see if they could break him, right? And I actually think in this fourth season maybe they may be continuing that, because this season, I don’t know what these creatures are, but they are the meanest I have ever seen,” says Perrineau.
“It’s really the meanest season I’ve seen so far.”
However, he also adds the monsters and dangers ahead are pushing the residents together.
“And if they push us closer together, I’ve got a feeling we’ll start sharing stories in a way we haven’t before.”
For Perrineau’s character Boyd, the journey ahead will involve trying to get his family to safety.
“At the end of the day, he’s got to get his son home, and as many people as he can, too,” says Perrineau.
