Actor and producer Patrick Muldoon, well known for his roles in “Days of Our Lives,” “Melrose Place” and “Starship Troopers,” has died after suffering a fatal heart attack on Sunday. He was 57.
Shana Muldoon-Zappa, the actor’s sister, posted a touching video on Instagram Monday of Patrick singing and playing guitar while surrounded by family at a recent Easter Sunday celebration. She captioned the video:
“Today we woke up and realized yesterday was not just a bad dream. Thank you for the outpouring. We are in shock.”
In the post, Shana Muldoon-Zappa added that her family is “devastated and just trying to process how someone so happy, healthy, and full of life is suddenly taken from this earth.”
She also told TMZ on Monday that her brother’s girlfriend, Miriam Rothbart, found him unconscious on the bathroom floor of the couple’s home in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Sunday morning after taking a shower.
Some of Patrick Muldoon’s former co-stars took to social media to post heartfelt tributes, including his long-time friend and ex-girlfriend Denise Richards.
“I am deeply heartbroken & devastated (at) losing you. You were my best friend & my family,” Richards wrote in an Instagram caption on Tuesday, under a photo and video montage of the pair over the course of their 36-year friendship.
The two met in an acting class, when Richards was 19 and Patrick Muldoon was 21, and later starred in the 1997 movie “Starship Troopers” together.
Patrick Muldoon’s most recent acting role was in the crime thriller “Dirty Hands,” in which he stars alongside Richards. The film is slated for release later this month.
