Former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau was spotted at the Tribeca Festival on Monday evening, along with partner and pop star Katy Perry, marking their official red-carpet debut.

Trudeau and Perry were seen at the premiere of her concert film “Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour – Live from Paris” at the festival held in New York City.

Perry, 41, was seen wearing a white, halter-neck gown while Trudeau, 54, kept things simple and classic in a black suit and a white shirt as they greeted fans and reporters on the red carpet.

Last month, Perry made headlines after she applauded an Air Canada flight crew after they promptly responded to a medical emergency.

“I was so impressed with the level of attentiveness and quick action from the crew that I just want to highlight the level of professionalism and consideration they had for the passenger,” Perry wrote on X.

“The medical situation was resolved on the flight and everyone left ok. Good for you Air Canada!”

The couple was previously seen together at the “Beef” Season 2 Montecito Tastemaker event in April, where they attended the gathering with other guests including Prince Harry, Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, Carey Mulligan and Charles Melton.

Romance rumours about the couple’s growing closeness had started circulating in July last year, when the pop star was seen dining with the former prime minister in Montreal, at a restaurant named Le Violon.

In the year after the beginning of their relationship, Perry also got to know Trudeau’s children. His son Xav, who is also a musician, recently spoke about his relationship with his father’s new girlfriend.

“When I’m really happy with a song (I) send it (to her),” Xav, 18, said during an appearance on an episode of the Can’t Be Censored podcast in April. “She’s always happy to give me advice or tell me what I should change.”
