Family members of a man killed three years ago joined Toronto police Thursday to renew their appeal for tips in the unsolved slaying.

Homicide detectives and Christopher Skinner’s relatives were on hand to re-announce a $150,000 reward for evidence leading to the identification, arrest and convictions of the person or people responsible for the man’s death.

Skinner died in hospital after he was beaten and run over by a black sport utility vehicle near Adelaide Street East and Victoria Street early Oct. 18, 2009.

It is believed Skinner was trying to hail a cab just east of Yonge Street when his hand may have come in contact with the vehicle.

At the time, Skinner was walking alone after attending his sister's birthday celebration in the Entertainment District.

After the vehicle stopped just west of Victoria Street, the suspects got out and approached Skinner before they knocked him to the ground and repeatedly kicked him.

Moments later, after the suspects returned to the vehicle, Skinner was run over and left for dead on the road.

The vehicle fled eastbound on Adelaide Street East, approaching Church Street. No one has been charged.

“People responsible are still out there living amongst family and friends with this burden,” Det. Stacy Gallant said Thursday. “I am confident that they have said something to family, friend or someone that knows them.”

In an attempt to identify the suspect or suspects, Skinner’s loved ones have taken to online social networks to raise awareness about the case.

The family has set up a Facebook page, Twitter account, YouTube channel and Google+ account to appeal for information.

Speaking with reporters Thursday, Skinner’s sister Taryn said her family has not given up hope of finding her brothers’ killers.

“Even though it’s been three years and we move on, it’s still like it happened yesterday,” she said. “We are appealing to the public so that the people who have done this know that we are still looking and we won’t stop.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 416-808-7410 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
