The family of a young woman murdered at her Yorkville apartment nearly three decades ago has announced a $150,000 reward to help solve her murder.

Dec. 20 marks the 29th anniversary since Erin Gilmour was found dead at her Hazelton Avenue apartment. The 22-year-old aspiring fashion designer had been sexually assaulted and stabbed.

Her murder was later linked through DNA evidence to the Grace Street murder of another woman four months earlier, 45-year-old Susan Tice. Police say the same person killed both women.

Now Sean Gilmour, Erin’s younger brother, says his family is offering $150,000 to anyone who can help solve the case, in addition to the $50,000 reward already offered by police.

Sean told CP24 Wednesday that the holidays are a particularly difficult time for the family.

“She was a fantastic sister to me and my younger brother,” Sean said. “She was just starting out in life. She had just recently moved out of the house and had her career and her whole life to live.

"And unfortunately that was taken away from all of us.”

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Toronto police or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
