A female motorcyclist is dead and a male rider is in life-threatening condition after a car collided with a motorcycle in Downsview overnight Thursday, Toronto paramedics say.

Emergency crews were called to Wilson Avenue, between Murray Road and Dubray Avenue, just before midnight, for a report of a male and female who were thrown from the motorcycle they were riding after it struck a car.

The female motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, while the male motorcyclist was taken to a hospital trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.

The male driver of the car involved was also taken to hospital with less serious injuries.

Toronto police closed Wilson Avenue for cleanup and an investigation, forcing the TTC’s 96 Wilson, 165 Weston Road and 120 Calvington buses to divert.
